Spacial Dynamics is a movement practice that incorporates space for health and enhanced well-being.
When we begin to learn to move our space, we live more fully as human beings in the world. We can support our own healing processes, integrate reflexes and become more resilient to life’s stressors. Through Spacial Dynamics® we discover that there are forms and dynamics that exists in nature which support and heal us. We can reconnect with these natural forms and dynamics (such as the spiral, the vortex, the point) in such a way that we can initiate them as movements in and around the physical body. These spacial movements enhance and hone our physical movements.
In this way our movements allow us to be free and to connect to the world around us. With the integration of space and movement, Spacial Dynamics® supports the vitality and other natural life processes of human beings.
How do you move your space?
Think of how you experience yourself in relation to your body and the space around it: for instance when you are feeling vulnerable. In this state you might curl up in the feotal position, and you have little awareness of the wider surrounding world. You have contracted into yourself. Of course your body is still the same size, but you feel somehow smaller than in everyday life. On the other hand think about how you experience yourself at the top of a mountain – you might call this an “expansive” state – you feel bigger than you usually do.
Through flexibility of mind one can develop a new sense to perceive space, and learn how to move and change your space in order to:
- support your body’s mechanical wisdom
- bring greater ease to movements
- move beautifully
- enhance your consciousness and awareness
- apply the same principles to other aspects of your life
What kind of movements can I expect if I join a class?
Most of the exercises are done in an upright, standing position. Many incorporate arm movements with slow walking. Exercises can be modified for different abilities. Spacial Dynamics® principles are also applicable to other movement disciplines – including posture, every day activities, yoga, sports, and dance.
